Mother says, "The Trend Stops with Me and My Baby."

Cornerstone Prep’s “best practices” approach to education provides families the opportunity to break out of the vicious cycle that plagues many low-income families in our city. Consider this quote from a young, single mom who recently enrolled her child at Cornerstone Prep, shared as tears rolled down her face:

"My mother couldn't read and so I struggled early in school. I dropped out, got my GED and I'm working on my degree now. The trend stops with me and my baby. She deserves more and her daddy and I care so much about her education."

Cornerstone Prep serves mothers and grandmothers like this, providing the highest form of Christian education to low-income families who deserve and desire an opportunity like this for their child.

Urban High School Graduates Earn an 8th Grade Education

The Bible tells us that God hates injustice and oppression and that He calls His followers to represent Him by fighting for the rights of those who suffer these fates. The founders of Cornerstone Preparatory School believe that it is unjust that a student graduating from an urban high school will, on average, have an education equivalent to an 8th grader of a suburban school. The founders of Cornerstone Preparatory School believe that it is unjust that a family’s zip code could set into motion a chain of events, beginning with a poor education, that give an African-American male child a higher likelihood of receiving a prison sentence than a college degree.

High Quality, Christian Education

Cornerstone Prep, a new urban Christian school located near the Binghampton community, fights this injustice and oppression by providing a high quality, private Christian education to low-income families in the city. Tuition is on a sliding scale, allowing all families, regardless of income, access to a great education. Cornerstone Prep utilizes academic rigor and a Biblical worldview to equip all students with the skills and character necessary to succeed in college and to become life-changing leaders in their community.

Based on Successful Urban Schools Around the Country
